Holliday’s Helping Hands (HHH), a nonprofit founded by Miss Katina Holliday, has announced a partnership between the Aberdeen School District and Urgent Care at the Pointe, which the Aberdeen, MS native recently opened. The collaboration is intended to promote health and wellness among young people in the community. Among its goals is teaching them how incorporating certain lifestyle changes including proper diet, daily exercise and regular visits to the doctor can substantially improve their overall health. And for those considering careers in the healthcare arena, a job shadowing program will be offered.
“We are so blessed to have formed this partnership that we are sure will have a positive impact not only for local youth but the community in general,” says Miss Holliday. “We intend for this to be an ongoing relationship that will produce healthier kids and even inspire some to pursue careers in the field.”
Miss Holliday is a successful entrepreneur who now lives in Los Angeles, but has never forgotten her roots in Aberdeen. One of her proudest achievements is opening Urgent Care at The Pointe, a 5,000-square-foot facility designed to treat patients for a variety of non-life threatening conditions ranging from broken bones, sprains, minor burns and lacerations to the common cold, flu and digestive issues. The center, which is equipped with the latest diagnostic and treatment technology typically found only in hospital settings, is staffed by a physician and other highly trained medical personnel.
Urgent care centers, in general, are ideal alternatives to hospital emergency rooms, which are typically reserved for those with catastrophic injuries or life-threatening conditions like heart attacks and strokes. Urgent Care at The Pointe and other such facilities are also effective for those experiencing urgent care situations and who are unable to see their primary care provider in a timely manner.
