Canadian First Nations Recognized at the Global First Nations Carbon Summit

Carbon RX

Regina, Saskatchewan TheNewswire - October 3, 2022 – Carbon RX Inc. (“Carbon RX”) announced a historical agreement with First Nations across Canada. This progressive agreement is the catalyst for First Nations communities to exercise their environmental sovereignty and initiate their rights to the carbon credits originated on their lands, while benefiting from the economic opportunities in the emerging carbon markets.

“In my lifetime, I’ve never seen the collision of economic prosperity land so squarely on environmental values. Nature based, carbon capture solutions are the new frontier for First Nations people.  Collectively, these Chiefs and Councils just made a statement to the rest of the country in carbon capture,” says Marty Seymour, Chief Operating Officer, Carbon RX.

This announcement comes following National Truth and Reconciliation (“TRC”) Day and demonstrates a commitment to TRC recommendation #92, namely inclusion of indigenous people in emerging economic opportunities.

“We as First Nations people have always understood the importance of maintaining balance with mother earth - it is one of our natural laws. At the same time, we need to have access to economic opportunity to build our Nation in a sustainable way. First Nations carbon credits gives us access to a modern economy, while maintaining a traditional way of life. This is the next generation of economic development in our communities.” – Alvin Francis, Nekaneet First Nation.

First Nations people in Canada control over 150,000,000 acres of land, with the capability of sequestering tens of millions of tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere annually.  This would be the equivalent of the carbon footprint of over 5 million cars on an annual basis.

The announcement was made, as part of the kick off to the Global First Nations Carbon Summit, with the presentation of a symbolic ESG Carbon Credit coin, presented by Lionel Kambeitz, founder and chairman of the Carbon RX board of directors, to a large group of First Nations leaders in advance of the Summit.
