While the Second Amendment allows United States citizens to own a gun, only 40% of Americans report owning one or living with someone who does.

It’s important that you have proper training when you purchase and own a fireman. There are numerous gun classes available for any type of training you want. Whether you want to learn to compete in competitions or you want to learn how to maintain and clean your gun, there are classes to help.

This guide is going to give you all the information you need about gun safety courses. Continue reading so you know which one is best for you.

License to Carry

A license-to-carry class is one of the most beneficial for those who already know how to use their gun. The class is between two and three hours and will be in a classroom and on the range. You’ll learn about all the laws surrounding guns and everything you need to know about what you can and can’t do as a Texas resident and gun owner.

You’ll need a pen and notepad to take notes on, and by the end of the class, you’ll know exactly how to apply for a license. If you’re in the military, you are able to get your license to carry at 18 years old and if you’re not you’ll need to be 21.

You can take this class even if you don’t own a gun. You may want to be informed about the law and regulations before purchasing; in that case, you can rent one for the class.

Competition

Gun competition can be a great way to improve your skills and have some fun. Before signing up to compete, it’s important that you’re prepared. You’ll be able to compete at a higher level if you’ve worked with professionals and experts prior to the competition.

Private Training

Learning how to shoot a gun can be intimidating, especially in a large class. One of the best ways to get comfortable handling a gun is to take a private class with a professional.

If you’re already used to shooting your gun but want to improve your skills, a private class can still be very beneficial. It’s also a good option if you have a busy schedule as private lessons are much more flexible. It’s important to keep in mind that these gun classes will be more expensive than group classes.

Maintenance Class

Your guns are an investment that you will want to keep in the best shape possible. In order to do that you must know how to clean and maintain them properly.

Once you purchase your own firearm, it’s critical that you take this class. It will give you all the information you need about how to clean your gun, when to clean it, and what supplies you should and shouldn’t use.

This gun maintenance class will also show you how to safely handle your weapon. There aren’t any prerequisites to this class, meaning you don’t need to be an expert.

Women Only

Taking a women-only class is a great way to meet others in your community and learn a new skill. This class is for any skill level, even if you’ve never shot a gun before. Even if you’re not looking to purchase a firearm this class is still a fun activity.

The class is taught by our women experts and they will ensure you feel safe and comfortable. This gun training class is only $15 and includes a gun rental and ear protection. The only thing you’ll need to bring is eye protection and ammo, which are both available for purchase.

Handgun Classes

If you’re thinking about purchasing a handgun or you already own one, this is the perfect class for you. The handgun 101 class will teach you everything from gun safety to the fundamentals. It will also help you develop healthy habits when it comes to firing and maintaining your gun.

If you’re interested in obtaining your license to carry, this class is a great prerequisite. It’s $129 and you’ll need to set aside about two or three hours for the class.

After you’ve taken the 101 class, you can sign up for Handgun 201. This class will help you improve your shooting techniques and you’ll become a better shooter. There will be multiple drills such as holstering and reloading and you’ll learn skills that will help you if you ever find yourself on the defensive side.

Rifles 101

This class is very similar to the handgun class. You don’t need any experience to attend this class. You’ll learn to fire your rifle safely, properly, and accurately.

If you don’t own a rifle, you’ll be able to rent one; however, the cost is not included. This is one of the most popular classes, so don’t wait to sign up.

S.A.F.E Kids

If you have children between the ages of 7 and 11, this class is perfect. If you have a firearm in your home, it’s crucial that your children understand the dangers. This class is completely free and you or the child’s guardian will need to be in the class the entire time as well.
