-- Dr. Lillie Coley has issued a public statement in response to a recent US Weekly article discussing her godson, Rymir Satterthwaite, and ongoing legal proceedings. In her clarification, Dr. Coley addresses several key points she believes were mischaracterized or omitted in the coverage.

According to Dr. Coley, the claims made by Rymir are based on long-standing, sworn statements from his mother, Wanda. “This story was not fabricated,” she said. “Wanda’s affidavit has been on the court record for years and has never been withdrawn. Her account was the basis of Rymir’s understanding of his paternity.”
Dr. Coley emphasized that the current legal matter pending in California is not focused on paternity but instead concerns civil damages tied to past procedural issues. The court has recognized that service of the complaint on Mr. Carter was completed properly and within the required timeframe.
She also addressed an incident involving a phone call from a private number that was prematurely terminated. “I could not identify the caller’s identity, and I was driving on the highway with minors in the vehicle,” said Dr. Coley. “For safety and legal reasons, I could not continue the call.” The law firm involved in that exchange, Reed Smith, is known to represent parties connected to the case and has also drawn scrutiny in unrelated matters.
Additionally, Dr. Coley clarified that no individual involved in the case, including Rymir, Wanda, or herself, has ever been held in contempt of court. She noted that while the case has spanned more than a decade, many legal misconceptions remain.
Importantly, she stated that the question of Rymir’s paternity has never been fully adjudicated.
“There has never been a discovery hearing or final ruling that resolves the paternity or other issues,” she said. “These facts continue to be overlooked in public narratives.”
