Ontario Pink Floyd Tribute Band: Summer & Fall Show Schedule Announced

Floydium, Canada’s premiere Pink Floyd cover band, has announced new shows this summer and fall.

-- This new announcement arrives in the runup to the band’s performance at the 50th Anniversary Tribute show, set to take place in Hamilton, ON on June 28th. The newly announced dates will follow this performance, carrying the band through the summer and into autumn as they make their way across the province.

In the years since its formation, Floydium has sought to carry on the psychedelic legacy of Pink Floyd in the most authentic way possible, performing in front of audiences across Canada. Harnessing the unique talents of its many members, the band emulates and iterates on the rich sonic landscapes that made the original Pink Floyd so memorable and influential.

Taking on the monumental task of recreating the expressive, innovative guitar work pioneered by Syd Barrett and David Gilmour, Floydium members Joseph Pilonen and Leon Dadoun shoulder the burden together. While both accomplished musicians in their own right, they have developed a collaborative playing style that covers the entirety of Pink Floyd’s diverse musical spectrum.

Likewise, standing in at once for Barrett, Gilmour, and the seminal Roger Waters on vocals, the band is fronted by a long-time staple in the Canadian music scene, Kyle Layton Thomas. While he just recently set out on a solo endeavor, Thomas remains committed to the cause of bringing the work of this classic band to life once again.

He is assisted on the microphone by the equally pedigreed James Naro, whose career has seen him sharing the stage with some of the most talented artists in North America.

This lineup is backed by an ensemble of local talent, including music educator Jenn Kee, singer-songwriter Jennifer Foster, drummer Greg Wilkinson, bassist Keiko Gutierrez, keyboardist Joel Dalton, and saxophonist Lucas Durand. Together, the group emulates the many nuances that drive the emotional core of Pink Floyd’s music, be it the bass-driven lament of “Money”, or the soaring melancholy ballad that is “Comfortably Numb”.

Those interested in seeing the act live will be able to do so in June at the 50th Anniversary Tribute in Hamilton, in September in Meaford and Brantford, ON, and on several dates throughout the month of November.
