Che Ramos Virtual Blind Bourbon Experience Dates Announced For 2023

The Black Bourbon Guy, Che Ramos, has announced new dates in 2023 for a fun and educational tasting experience, the Virtual Blind Bourbon Experience. Participants can enrich their knowledge of whiskey and bourbon through these expert-led sessions.

The Black Bourbon Guy aka Che Ramos has launched an unconventional Virtual Blind Bourbon Experience. Designed to be engaging and informative Ramos’s class outlines the unique nature of bourbon and its storied role in US history while removing label prejudice from bourbon samples so tasters can discover whiskeys they enjoy.

The virtual experience is currently scheduled to take place once a month through February 2023. Each participant will receive a gift box with three blind samples representing 3 unique styles of bourbon, ‘The BBG flavor wheel’, whiskey tasting sheets, and cups.

Originally from Brooklyn and currently living in Durham, North Carolina with his family, The Black Bourbon Guy seeks to make high-quality, aged beverages more accessible through education and representation. A cross between historian and mixologist, Ramos embraces storytelling as a part of his services.

Having worked as a General Manager for twenty years in the restaurant industry, Ramos offers professional training and private whiskey tastings within and surrounding the Triangle area (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill) of North Carolina. Other recent stops made by The Black Bourbon Guy include nearby Wake Forest, and Charleston, South Carolina.

Ramos provides consultation services to local restaurateurs and businesses, and hosts tastings for any cocktail, whiskey, or bourbon-centric gathering – including private groups, large corporate functions, date nights, and company events. These tastings can also include group trips and tours to distilleries such as Old Forrester in Kentucky. Ramos is looking to further expand his services to include corporate Diversity Equity Inclusion events, spreading his knowledge and passion to an even wider audience.

Started in part as a response to the pandemic and from missing major family milestones, The Black Bourbon Guy was conceptualized by Ramos in late 2020 as a means to facilitate exposure of traditionally underrepresented people in the restaurant and beverage industry. Ramos states, “Bourbon can sometimes be seen as a drink only consumed by the sophisticated in equally sophisticated environments – therefore, groups of people are often removed from the experience.” Ramos continues, “The Black Bourbon Guy offers services to educate and provide more representation in the beverage space in general.”

Currently hosting a weekly Wednesday event at the upscale cocktail bar and restaurant Alley Twenty Six, Ramos hopes to increase the presence of people of color within every aspect of the bar experience. “There’s not a lot of black representation on either side of the bars that I go to. The goal of these events is to share both my and Alley Twenty Six’s love of great whiskey with a diverse group of people. That benefits everybody.”
