WOONG SAN, one of Korea’s leading jazz divas, successfully concluded her 2025 year-end concert All That Jazz on December 5 at the Haeorum Theater of the National Theater of Korea. The performance reaffirmed her distinctive musical world through a fusion of jazz, rock, blues, Latin influences, and traditional Korean music.
The National Theater of Korea has traditionally focused on classical and traditional performing arts, making it a venue rarely accessible to mainstream artists. Only two jazz musicians, including WOONG SAN, have ever held a solo concert on the Haeorum Theater stage, the largest in the venue. This milestone highlights her artistic stature and musical accomplishments.
The concert featured an innovative crossover with traditional Korean musicians, including Geomungo Player Jae-ha Lee and Janggu Player Ji-won Bang. Their participation created a striking blend of the deep resonance of Korean traditional music and the improvisational nature of jazz.
Opening with Sonnima, WOONG SAN immediately captivated the audience with her powerful and rich lower register. She continued to move the crowd with encore performances of her hit song Yesterday and the Italian classic Caruso, originally written by Lucio Dalla. Sharing her heartfelt thoughts with the audience, she said, “Thinking of everyone who takes precious time to come out in this cold weather makes my heart heavy. I will sing until my whole body melts.”
Through All That Jazz, WOONG SAN demonstrated that she is far more than a jazz vocalist. She proved that she has become a genre of her own and set a new milestone in the history of Korean jazz.
