Remarks:
Monotype Imaging Holdings Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Monotype Imaging"), is filing this Form 3 solely because it may be
deemed to be a beneficial owner, pursuant to Section 13(d) of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, as amended, of 4,731,792 shares
of Class A Common Stock, par value $0.01 per share, of Bitstream Inc., a Delaware corporation (the "Company"), that are,
in the aggregate (the "Shares"), subject to voting agreements entered into by Monotype Imaging with certain stockholders of
the Company in connection with the Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated as of November 10, 2011, among the Company, Monotype Imaging
and Birch Acquisition Corporation, a Delaware corporation and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Monotype Imaging.  Monotype Imaging does
not have any "pecuniary interest" in the Shares. Monotype Imaging disclaims beneficial ownership of the Shares, and this
report shall not be deemed an admission that Monotype Imaging is the beneficial owner of any Shares for purposes of Section 16 or for
any other purpose.
