Item 8.01. Other Events.
Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (the “Company”) is no longer engaged in discussions with South Carolina Public Service Authority (“Santee Cooper”) regarding the potential acquisition by the Company of a 5-10 percent ownership interest in the V.C. Summer Nuclear Station being developed by Santee Cooper and South Carolina Electric & Gas, near Jenkinsville, South Carolina. The Company had been engaged in discussions with Santee Cooper since July 2011.
