A Father's wish for Father's Day 2019. A letter to Congress for our children...

The silent form of child abuse that is destroying our children and families- Parental Alienation

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA, June 14, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Every day in this country thousands of father's are limited to seeing and being with their child on a regular basis. This is often due to a condition called Parental Alienation. It is a devastating pattern of behavior which impacts out most valuable resource, our children.

Parental Alienation, defined by Wikipedia is the process, and the result, of psychological manipulation of a child into showing unwarranted fear, disrespect or hostility towards a parent and/or other family members. It is a distinctive form of psychological abuse and family violence towards both the child and the rejected family members, that occurs almost exclusively in association with family separation or divorce, particularly where legal action is involved.

The World Health Organization recently revised and will be releasing the new ICD-11 on June 18th, and has the verbiage under QE52.0 Caregiver-child relationship problem Substantial and sustained dissatisfaction within a caregiver-child relationship associated with significant disturbance in functioning.

WHO sets out the purpose of the ICD as follows:
ICD is the foundation for the identification of health trends and statistics globally, and the international standard for reporting diseases and health conditions. It is the diagnostic classification standard for all clinical and research purposes.

U.S. Leading Experts on Parental Alienation, among other well respected mental health professionals, have expressed their concerns about the harm of parental alienation to children. The parents involved are also deeply affected. Experts on the topic such as Craig Childress Psy. D, Amy J. L Baker, Ph. D., and Edward Kruk Ph.D. have voiced their concerns to the mental health field. They have helped raise awareness by advocating for change on the topic of parental alienation including petitioning the American Psychological Association to include it in the DSM-5, the Bible for mental health professionals.

"It's the #1 factor as to why father's are not involved in their child's life whatsoever and would prefer to simply walk away from his child's life. That in and of itself should raise concern and more debate on the subject considering all of the U.S. fatherless children in home statistics," states Fightingdads founder William Whitworth.

Fightingdads has started an online petition through Whitehouse.gov and needs at least 100,000 signatures in 30 days for Congress to officially look into the matter. The petition can be found at https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/put-end-parental-alienation-consider-therapeutic-jurisprudence-and-other-solutions-reform-family-court-law and Fightingdads.com

Fightingdads was founded after Whitworth, a dad, simply wanting a normal life and relationship with his child, ended up in a 9 year custody battle in which he missed more than 100 court ordered visits with his child. Whitworth hopes to encourage dads and men everywhere to not give up hope on their children, the family court judicial system, and raise awareness about the topic.
