Announcing the 20th Annual BC LifeSciences Award Recipients

It always starts with a simple question in the life science value continuum; how do we create a better patient outcome? From within the entire life science sector the clinical work is driven by the most human of desires – to fix things and make things better for those who are plagued by disease, short or long-term illness, physical injury or disfigurement or natural maladies that impair the flow of life.

In British Columbia we are fortunate to have a vibrant and thriving life science biocluster that is marked not only by local and national accomplishments, but international recognition. We have a community of scientists, physicians, engineers, technologists, clinicians, researchers, thought provokers and gamblers, aka entrepreneurs, that at the end of the day, have given their all to resolving the mysteries of disease states and physical maladies

“These awards honouring the achievement of key milestones in research, growth, innovation and leadership make 2017 as a breakout year for our life sciences sector. Our message for this year, “a strong ecosystem accelerates success,” is about community supporting community. These awards celebrate the “best of” and provide examples of success that inspire all of us,” said Lesley Esford, President and CEO of LifeSciences BC.

Congratulations to all the winners for your cutting-edge innovations that are improving people’s lives across the globe.”

“This past year, our life sciences ecosystem garnered significant growth, investment and global awareness. There have been significant industry announcements such as the $US1.5B Zymeworks – J&J agreement and our province being awarded the digital health supercluster for Canada. Life sciences in B.C. is no longer a tech sector subset, it is its own industry,” said Nancy Harrison, Chair, LifeSciences BC, Board of Directors.

LifeSciences BC is looking forward to celebrating our community and these award recipients at our annual dinner.
