New York, NY - The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism(Minister In-Chon Yu), together with the Korea Craft and Design Foundation(President Dong-Kwang Chang, hereafter referred to as KCDF) released a Hanbok pictorial video of actor Suzy, a Hallyu(Korean Wave) Cultural Artist, on the billboard in Times Square Broadway(3 Times Sq, New York, NY 10036, USA), New York, from 2023 December 24th(Sun) 6 a.m. to 25th(Mon) 2 a.m(local time).
KCDF promotes ‘The Hallyu Collaborative Content Planning and Development – Hanbok Wave’ project to publicize Hanbok both domestically and internationally, newly designed through collaboration between Korean Hanbok Small and Medium-sized Enterprises(SMEs) and Hallyu Cultural Artists, and to expand the boundaries of Korean Wave.
Hanbok worn by the actor ‘Suzy’ – Made by 6 Hanbok SMEs selected through the public offering project
This year, 6 domestic Hanbok SMEs were selected through a public offering to develop Hanbok products, choosing actor Suzy as the model. The Hanbok was designed to maintain the composition and elements of the traditional Hanbok while also expressing the modern trends and styles in fashion.
The 6 domestic Hanbok SMEs are ‘Songhwa by Jeong(Haejin Jeong)’, ‘OUWR(Ha Eun Chang)’, ‘YUHYUNHWA HANBOK(Hyunhwa Yu)’, ‘Tchai Kim(Young Jin Kim)’, ‘HAPPLY(Ji Eon Lee)’, ‘HANBOK MOON(Suntae Hwang)’.
The Hanbok pictorial video of actor ‘Suzy’ wearing the newly developed Hanbok can be seen through the KCDF YouTube channel from December 26th(Tue). Other 60 Hanboks designed through the Hallyu Collaborative Content Planning and Development – Hanbok Wave project are uploaded to the Hanbok Wave homepage.
