Adding to its list of innovations, developers at WhatsApp are now working on incorporating Artificial Intelligence to a whole new level. In the new update of the readily known instant messaging app, users will be able to use AI-generative images as their profile pictures.
After the popularity of Meta AI and its practicality for the people, the latest WhatsApp beta for Android v2.24.11.17 is going to unlock this new feature of generative AI soon. The update, first reported by WABetaInfo, will enhance user privacy and streamline functions.
There’s no surety at the moment about how the update will look, but it’s speculated to show up in the ‘edit profile picture’ settings. Some theories suggest it will be in a dedicated tab with exclusive settings.
WhatsApp may or may not utilize the same language model that it used in the application for Meta AI, and there’s no disclosure on this matter. The company will soon reveal the update which will further refine how users make use of the application.
With the new AI-generated profile picture update, users may be able to create cartoons as avatars that are already incorporated into the application and other Meta suite programs like Facebook and Instagram. It may also provide human-like images, given that you write a short description of how you want the results to look. The company sees this as an opportunity for users to update their profile pictures based on their moods, likes, and dressing styles.
The recent updates to WhatsApp included features like editing messages, undoing ‘delete for me’ messages, and locking chats. An update for iPhone users that prevents taking profile screenshots is also speculated to be under work.
