Michael Stigall, engineer and computer system analyst, was recently selected as Top Principal Validation Engineer of the Year for 2024 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the industry.
Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself; only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. All Honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.
With almost four decades of experience in the industry, Mr. Stigall has certainly proven himself as an expert in his field. As a dynamic, results driven leader, Michael has a solid background in project management, laboratory automation, computer system validation and compliance. He currently works as a Principal Validation Engineer at USDM Life Sciences, specializing in pharmaceutical and biotechnology laboratory systems.
Mr. Stigall has markedly excelled in information technology, artificial intelligence, project management and laboratory automation. His professional career began at Solvay, a materials and chemical company mastering the elements that are essential for a sustainable world with offices in Brussels, Belgium and Houston, Texas.He has worked as both a full time and contract employee across several industries, including specialty chemicals, petroleum, finance, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals. His roles have included Consultant, Manager, Director and Vice President at various organizations. His skills have assisted in the remediation of FDA warning letters, building specialized robots for automated laboratory testing and scientific programming for bioinformatics projects.
Mr. Stigall has been interviewed by Kiplinger's Magazine ("When Your Computer is Your Broker", July 1994) and presented a paper at the 6th Oklahoma Symposium on Artificial Intelligence ("Neural Networks for Financial Forecasting", November 1992).
Mr. Stigall’s areas of expertise include but are not limited to quality assurance, project management, quality control, leadership, business analysis, software development, biotechnology, and artificial intelligence.
Before embarking on his career path, Michael initially obtained Bachelors of Arts degrees in both German and Chemistry from Hendrix College in 1981. He later earned a Masters of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 1983. In addition, he holds many certifications in his industry, such as a developer certifications in Java, Python, Visual Basic and C#. He is also a certified administrator of laboratory automation tools such as LabVantage LIMS, LabWare LIMS and Waters Empower.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Stigall has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for his accomplishments. He has been recognized by Marquis Who's Who for Excellence in Engineering Technology as well as for Excellence in Software Engineering and Project Management. This year he will be considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. He will be honored at IAOTP's annual awards gala at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville next December for his selection as Top Principal Validation Engineer of the Year.
In addition to his successful career, Mr. Stigall has served as a member of the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering since 2016 and has been a certified PMI project manager since 2007.

When not working, he enjoys traveling and spending time with his family. In the future, he hopes to inspire and influence those getting into the field.
