Julia Pinsky, LMFT Uses Psychotherapy and KAP to Help Individuals Overcome Cycles of Conflict and Recover from Past Trauma.

Santa Cruz, CA - Therapy is a bridge for individuals who want to heal from the past, create a loving relationship with themselves, shed old patterns, build connections with others, and develop new strategies for connection and protection.

Julia Pinsky, LMFT works with adults in Santa Cruz and online within California, seeking to accept themselves and their partners while leaning into change. The therapeutic relationship is based on a patient’s healing and overall goals, change process, and well-being.

Whether one is facing overwhelming stress, struggling in their relationships, or desiring personal growth, psychotherapy can help them navigate these challenges and build resilience. It’s a collaborative process where a patient and the therapist work together to identify challenges and explore solutions in a safe and nonjudgmental space.

Julia Pinsky, LMFT listens, guides, and empowers patients to acknowledge what has happened to them so they can live a life filled with authentic connection, agency, creativity, and ease.

With a compassionate approach, the psychotherapist suggests new perspectives and uncovers roadblocks or alternative paths for patients to feel understood and validated. This therapeutic process may include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy or Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) to shake loose patterns that don’t serve a patient’s overall quality of life.

KAP is a holistic modality that uses ketamine to help eligible patients experience breakthroughs and sustained improvement in symptoms. Julia Pinsky, LMFT offers KAP in partnership with Journey Clinical, which supports patients in all medical aspects, such as determining eligibility, developing a custom treatment plan, prescribing the medicine, and monitoring outcomes.

Ketamine is a rapid-acting antidepressant with mood-enhancing effects that treats depression, anxiety, and PTSD. It blocks the brain’s NMDA receptors and stimulates AMPA receptors to form new synaptic connections and boost neural circuits that regulate stress and mood.

Patients who sign up for ketamine assisted psychotherapy with Julia Pinsky, LMFT get an initial consultation with Journey Clinical for an evaluation. This covers a patient’s medical and psychiatric history, education, and a personalized prescription and monitoring plan.

Once the patient receives the medication, Julia schedules time for the KAP preparation, dosing, and integration sessions. Although KAP is an internal experience, she holds space for patients and provides support as needed.

Julia Pinsky, LMFT is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists in Santa Cruz, EMDRIA (EMDR International Association), International Society for the Study of Trauma and Dissociation, and Journey Clinical, Inc.
