Healthcare technology company’s latest innovations centralize the most used data entry to one overview screen, removing steps in navigation in order to save eye care professionals time
ModMed® today unveiled its latest platform innovations designed to increase clinical efficiencies that can help eye care providers thrive in a complex and demanding healthcare environment.
With the constant shifts in the industry such as staff shortages and lower reimbursements as well as the scaling eye care demands of aging baby boomers, implementing technology that helps capture and categorize patient data as efficiently as possible is critical to helping ophthalmologists and optometrists save time so they can see more patients and provide better care.
Following the successful launch of ModMed Ophthalmology 6.0 earlier this year, ModMed placed particular emphasis on two areas of product development in this latest release — simplifying eye exam intake and enabling better co-managed care relationships between physicians. Now from the patient exam overview screen, the latest platform innovations include centralizing the most used data entry onto a single screen and removing the need for extra steps in navigation.
“Our R&D has been laser-focused on making workflows simpler and faster for eye care professionals by streamlining the steps required to record and review patient documentation,” said Patrick Herde, general manager of ophthalmology at ModMed. “And we have relied on our customers' feedback to help shape our technology and focus our efforts on making a difference where it counts.”
"The ModMed team is composed of really good people and the caliber of the leadership team is first class. They listen to their customers on a level that I have not encountered elsewhere,” said Trish Barker, chief operations officer, Florida Eye Associates.* “ModMed’s desire to make things work in the most meaningful and useful way is what makes them shine over other companies I’ve experienced."
"I love that EMA® was designed and coded by practicing ophthalmologists who understand an ophthalmic workflow,” said Elson Lai, MD, Rosemead Eye Center.* “This, combined with adaptive learning capabilities that enable the system to remember my preferences, unlike template-based platforms I’ve used in the past, helps improve efficiency and save time."
ModMed will be at the ASCRS-ASOA Annual Meeting in booth #725 during exhibit hours on April 23-25 in Washington, D.C. where the team will demo its latest solutions, including:
- Simple Eye Exam: In removing extraneous steps, the advanced functionality more closely aligns with the needs of eye care providers in the documentation process. For example, a physician can provide exam notes at one single point of entry per eye, and EMA will organize the findings into exam sections.
- Co-Management: Designed to give clinical users immediate visibility to the co-management status of a patient including the contact information of the co-managing physician. In addition, the new Patient Care Team section allows the staff and doctors to quickly see a list of who else is providing care to the patient.
- ModMed Ophthalmology 6.0: The latest version of EMA includes a newly-designed home screen, updated login security measures and workflow improvements.
