GILI TRAWANGAN, Indonesia - A transformative chapter in professional scuba diving begins August 6, 2025, as the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) returns to the Gili Islands under the expert guidance of Holly Macleod, a Platinum PADI Course Director with over two decades of global dive experience.
This industry-recognized program delivers far more than a standard curriculum. Each candidate embarks on an intensive training journey tailored to real-world instructional scenarios. With more than 3,500 PADI Instructor certifications issued in the Gili Islands alone, Holly Macleod leverages international experience across Honduras, Thailand, Australia, the UK, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore.
The training is hosted at Blue Marlin Dive, Gili Trawangan’s original PADI Dive and IDC Centre, established over 30 years ago. With consistent recognition awarded to PADI Course Director Holly Macleod over the past 13 years, this facility is equipped to provide future scuba instructors with the tools and environment needed to thrive in the professional dive industry.
Unlike conventional approaches, the course emphasizes practical techniques, critical thinking, and situational awareness. Teaching strategies go beyond textbook material, reflecting actual challenges faced in dive environments around the world. The course prepares new instructors not only for examination success but for the realities of a fast-evolving dive tourism industry.
The August 6 program is the first of a series of 2025 IDC sessions, which also include:
- September 10 – October 1, 2025
- October 15 – November 5, 2025
- November 19 – December 10, 2025
Each session spans multiple weeks and is structured to deliver an immersive and enriching experience that refines leadership, instructional ability, and confidence.
Beyond initial instructor certification, participants will find extensive post-IDC support. Continuing education includes a full range of PADI Instructor Specialty Courses, MSDT (Master Scuba Diver Trainer) preparation, IDC Staff Instructor training, and Master Instructor mentoring. The program offers a clear path for professional development within the diving industry.
The PADI IDC Indonesia program in the Gili Islands remains one of the most reputable instructor training programs in Southeast Asia. Future instructors gain access to one of the most supportive professional development environments available within the PADI system.
For those seeking a professional change or aiming to build a long-term career within the underwater world, this program stands as a beacon for excellence and opportunity.
